Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) or in german 'Huflattich' is a medicinal plant. It starts blooming in early spring and is important for honey bees as one of the first sources of food after winter.
In this region you usually see them first in late march.
That I was able to take this picture some days ago in february may be a sign of global warming. But perhaps it is only a sign that this year spring comes early in germany.

ps: Some people where asking how coltsfoot is related to dandelion and how it is the use in medicine. Both flowers are members of the family of Asteraceae. And both are yellow, that's it.
Coltsfoot is been used medicinally as a cough suppressant. The name "tussilago" itself means "cough suppressant." The plant has been used since at least historical times to treat lung ailments such as asthma as well as various coughs by way of smoking. Crushed flowers supposedly cured skin conditions.
